Windows 7 first impressions

Hi,

What are your first impression on Windows 7 in the real life?

I use it on my Viao laptop for more than 2 week now and my forst impression is not so good. This is not the main stream and most feedback is really good.

Mine was very good the first 3 days but after real usage in professional environnement I have the feeling I am back to Vista...

Am I the only one having a slow comuter with Windows 7?

For information I use the 32 bits version and I spend ages installing all latests drivers from Sony.

Cheers

Olivier

Back to vista ???
I don't think so... Windows seven is much better than vista, microsoft didn't add many things, but increase vista up to seven.

You should give a second chance to seven

Hi,

A quick update on my issues on Windows 7.

All my problems were related to Kaspersky AntiVirus slowering the PC in a stupid proportion. There is now a new version optimized for Windows 7 and everything works fine.

I still have issues with my Sony laptop docking station but for sure this is a docking issue not an OS one. Crappy Sony dock station...

Cheers

I have to admit that microsoft has released an improved OS, not a vista or milenium for those who remember.

By the way talking about vaio, one of my regret came from Sony, they did not allow their customer to enable VT extension in the BIOS, so most of Vaio users can't benefit the XP compatibility mode built in 7 because it rely on a XP virtual machine.

On a performance stand point there is no point of comparaison between Vista and 7, even if you are using a 32 bits version.

You may have to tweak a bit your 7 but it's almost the case on every OS you use.

64bits version working pretty well, and except few software compatiblity issue, i did not notice any particular issue.

For those who are looking forward to an easily configurable system, i recommend you to take a look at Windows 7 god mode.

I believe Windows 7 is the best choice Microsoft made after Windows 98SE. Very stable and fast. In fact i don't care what else comes next.. if i am not forced to upgrade i won't :)
