I will try that...
Windows starts faster than the motherboard :(
I guess this will avoid the motherboard time too.

TechTip #2: DISABLE CAPSLOCK – Here are a couple of ways to control your CAPSLOCK stay off if you want:
Technique 1 - Change your registry yourself or download and use a REG file (e.g., something like http://johnhaller.com/jh/useful_stuff/disable_caps_lock/disable_caps_lock.reg) [ref:JohnHaller.com]
Technique 2 - Get the Windows Resource Kit Tools – go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9D467A69-57FF-4AE7-96EE-B18C4790CFFD&displaylang=en, install the tools and use the remapkey.exe utility. [ref: Mark Kailin]
Technique 3 - Use Windows if you are VISTA or Win7 – go to Control Panel, Region & Language, Keyboards and Languages, Change Keyboards, Advanced Key Settings, choose Press the SHIFT key radio button at the top (tried, didn’t like)
Technique 4 - Get a screwdriver and pry the key out of the keyboard, reattach as needed.
I have tried each. I use Technique 1 because it has never caused a problem, but changing the registry has its risks. Technique 2, the remapkey.exe is nicely presented, but I never was sure it worked ok and I was more comfortable changing the registry myself. Technique 3 sort of ‘arms’ the CAPSLOCK key to turn itself off when a user is typing sentences and text. I didn’t like it and I still have Win2k and XP machines for development and test.
Technique 4 works pretty well and you don’t have to change the registry. Be sure to keep the key someplace safe!

@Max : It seems like a lot of effort to do something I don't know why I would do in the first place... what about a typing course (http://tiny.cc/toaab) or have I missed the point?

Hi, Paul -- A typing course is a good idea. Thanks for the link. I just need the discipline to make the time to do the FastTouch course. :-)

TechTip #3: DISABLING DELETE CONFIRMATIONS – I get tired of having to say OK every time I delete a file, so I have disabled that confirmation. To disable this confirmation, right-click on the Recycle Bin, choose Properties, and uncheck the ‘Display delete confirmation dialog’.

Aren't the Windows start up items normally necessary?

Max Eidswick says:
Well, Joy, sometimes either a problematic program may cause startup problems. This is a way to get around them loading in case there are startup problems.
