ResolvedHow to enable the old way of searching in files, in Windows 7?

Is there a way (system settings, or even external application) to bring back the good old XP find in files features? I don't want to turn on indexing: why should I slow down the entire system permanently for occasionally searching in specifics folders??

Basically, my need is to perform a search like: find all "*.rc" files containing "john doe" in the current folder. You know, with the little dog reading a book :)

Give me this feature back!!!

I did not find any solution so I had to install a search application, it is true that the new search engine in Vista/Seven is really not easy to use.

Arthur K. says:

Open the File Explorer >> Press Alt button >>tools >> Folder options >> search tab >>

Select, "Always search file names and content (this might take several minutes).

Still not as good as the old XP search functions, but a tad bit better.

Nacim, what do you use as search engine? I'm currently sticking with a GNU find/grep solution within Cygwin.
