Powerdesk Pro 8.4.1.12 Very Slow Startup

Help, please.  I am a longtime user of this product.  The current version 8.4.1.12 has a very slow startup process when I click the desktop icon to invoke the program.  How do I configure Powerdesk to start when I start the computer.  My OS is Windows XP, SP3.

Hello Ralph,

When you say open at start up are you wanting Power Desk to actually launch when the computer first boots? This is not possible, to lauch Power Desk you will have to launch from the start menu or a short cut. I would suggest you limit the number of start up items you have loading to try and speed the loading of Power Desk.

Thanks for the response. No, I am not wanting PD to launch when I start the computer. I purposely limit the number of programs at startup, as you mentioned.  My concern is the length ot time it takes for PD to launch after I double-click its desktop shortcut icon.  When I invoke PD it takes a full 20-40 seconds for it to open.  Can we shorten its launch time?  It is interminably long, in computer time.

Hello Ralph,

Try changing the location power Desk is set to open to. Change it to your desk top. It is possible the location it is set to open to is causing it to take a long time to open. This can happen if the location is an external drive or a folder with a lot of files.
