I was scanning through my lifehacker feeds today, and came across this nifty little gadget ( http://lifehacker.com/5591929/grid+it-keeps-your-bag-tidy-and-organized ). It goes by the name of Grid-It, and looks like to perfect solution for anyone that could benefit from a little organization when it comes to how they carry around the never ending list of gadgets we carry around.
Made from a rubberized woven elastics that will hold everything from pens to mobile phones, to tic tacs, it comes in various sizes to fit your bag size, instead of buying a bag big enough to fit grid it.
does anyone have any experience with this, or any other solution they could offer up?

I have a Targus bag I bought with my Laptop (a deal through NewEgg). It's got two side pockets that are a bit larger than business cards (so you can guess what I hold there), several netted pockets for water bottles, change or whatever small trinkets you might have. The inside pockets are padded for Laptop transport with three interior pockets.
When I went to Long Beach Comicon as a journalist I carried my laptop, charger, change of clothes (x2) and several books I bought throughout the day.
Yea, it's spacious.
What I dig about your suggestion is the compact nature of it. All of these things arranged in one space, slid into my Targus bag! It would either be bliss or one giant knot!

what model of Targus bag did you get. i'm starting to look for a new bag, mine is starting to split at some of the seams. i've been looking at some of the incase models, just trying to get an idea of options.

I had to look up my invoice on NewEgg from waaaaaaay back when. It's a TARGUS 17" Groove Backpack, Model CVR617. It's about a year old

So, Just ordered a 'grid-it' at Amazon:
Cocoon CPG10BK GRID-IT Organizer, 12 x 8 Inch, Black
Usually, only a day or two until Amazon products arrive - it sounds exactly like what I need, want and will use, a LOT.
I'll let you know what it's like, when it gets here.
Thanks Tim!

I wonder if it would fit an iPad?

Hi Richard ;)
Don't know yet. BUT, will let you know in a few days though.
I'll take some pictures with some devices attached to it, to indicate proportional balance. ;D

Hi Richard and Folks.
So, the product came in day before yesterday. We tested it out and think it is worth a try by just about everyone who carries computer gear, or a brief case of any kind. I saw some pictures where folks carry them inside luggage, with personal items attached. I don't know if that would be viable for everyone, but some folks certainly think so.
The grid-it comes in quite a few colors and sizes as noted here at Amazon: Electronics-GRID-IT-Options
And we produced our own product review located at Buddy Product Reviews: Grid-It
If I had known it came in red, I'd have ordered that instead of black. But the black will work just fine. :)

Nice review! I may have to try it... I liked the layout for the PSP, I could use that for my DS. (Also: I had that phone! Same color too! Now I have an Android, but wow talk about a blast from the past!)

As soon as we have 4g in my area, I'll be upgrading (from Sprint) probably to Verizon or AT&T and getting an iphone. The thing is, I can use my Nokia for everything that the current phone does not do.
I had a hard time choosing the blue or orange that was available at the time I purchased that phone. Mom was with me at the time (a few years ago), and voted for the orange. That's probably why I wound up with the blue. HA!

Oh boy - now have ordered another grid it as a gift for my son. He keeps admiring mine so much, it seemed like a no brainer.

I am my own worst enemy. Last evening I took the grid-it to my son at Mom's house (just across the street). My daughter was also there and said, "OMG, this is exactly what I need for my gym bag MOM!"
So, later today, another purchase. I might as well save some time and buy TWO as my DIL has remained silent but I am sure that at some point, she will be needing (or wanting) one too. And none of these people have birthdays coming up. At least if birthdays were at hand, I could kill two birds with one stone. You know?
Sheesh.
