Will you give a chance to IE 9 ?

Hi there

I'm wondering... Will you give a try to IE 9 ?

Is there a chance you go back to it if it's a good browser ?

Edit : beta will come out on sept. 15th

Why not?  Most people cringe when they imagine using Internet Explorer, but I really don't care.  I prefer to use Chrome, but I'm not against using IE of any variety.  In fact, I'm typing this comment in IE 8!

Look ma!  No crashes!

It will all depend on how well it supports CSS3 features and IF, and I use a big IF here, they stop using "filters" instead of supporting actual image standards ( pngs, gifs ) for transparency.  So far I prefer Chrome to any of them.  I sort of dropped Firefox as it is now really unstable, in my opinion.  I just can't stop using it for professionnal matters though, as Firebug isn't as good on other browsers :(

As I'm a Mac user at job, I won't use IE9 :)

At home, I have both Chrome (for me) and IE8 (for my girlfriend). I soon as IE9 is ready, I'll install it and replace IE 8.

I doubt I could get  Chrome fire, as I like it because it's just a browser, no other useless (for me) features.

Mathieu, I hope IE9 will follow standard, more than predecessors. It has to. If not, MS is making a huge mistake.

If they make as good changes from ie8 to ie9 like they did from ie6 to ie8, I'll try it.

i'm a linux user at home and soon to be a Mac user professionally.  I have VM's for windows ( some sites still require IE browser ).  right now that VM has IE8, it will have IE 9 when it's ready and i actually start the VM again

So i guess the answer, is yes, eventually i will use IE9, but not for anything other than some sites, and testing

I saw the UI for IE 9 and it looks really minimal, like Google Chrome.  I wouldn't expect your standard "File Edit View" layout.

The ways of our world are shifting toward minimalism I think.

I've tried the pre beta releases (developers) and they were really nice and fast.  That was on a Windows 7 platform.  Right now I'm on my XP laptop so I won't be able to run it on here to see if it's faster on this machine.

I didn't have good luck with IE 8 as it always seemed to lock up and do strange things to my windows 7.  I wasn't about to use it on my XP laptop.  Right now I'm using Chrome and it's doing better than IE 6 that's also on this laptop.

It seems that IE9 cannot run on Windows XP.

At first I thought IE9 was a real improvement. Now I am not so sure. In Softcity the text of my posts shows blank and I can't reply to anything since I started using it. I realize it is Beta and hope they fix some things. It is an improvement from IE8, but a ways to go. I also use Firefox, Safari and Chrome.

I just tried IE 9 on my Compaq Cq5107 running Windows 7 (32 bit). It crashes immediately every time. So, I had to use my system restore to revert to IE 8. MS has a long way to go with this one!
