Extending the page size for Web Easy Pro 8

Hi,

I am using Web Easy 8. I decide to choose a design template called Environmentally friendly gifts.

I couldn't find an answer on this anywhere. It's hard to explain.

What I want to do is to extend the page size to 994x900. After I changed the size, the page size got larger. But instead of extending the page and the border, it's basically take a portion of the top page and attach it to the bottom page.

So instead of looking like one continuous page, it looks like two separate pages attach to each other with the black border in between.

Please let me know how to correct this.

thanks,

Vincent

Hello Vincent,

You have re-sized the page correctly. What we need to do now is simply modify the template items to fill up the rest of the page.

Right click anywhere on the background of the page and select Lock>> Unlock All.

Once all items have been unlocked on the page, you will be able to click on all objects on the template. This will allow you to resize the "foreground" to fill up the rest of the page.

Hi Arthur,

It's not the foreground that is the problem. it's the background that does not extend properly.

Before I resize it the background looks normal with the black shadow around the edge of the page. After I extend it, it just take a portion of the top of the page and attach it to the bottom. What you end up seeing is the original page with a new attached bottom with the black shadow in between.

thanks,

The template has a lot of items layered over another, including a polygon shape.

You must unlock the items just as I had specified, then click on the items (especially the polygon shaped item) and resize it to compensate for the longer page.

You would need to resize each of those locked items individually, such as the shadow.

I use the design template called Environmentally friendly gifts. I tried this in firefox and IE, and they have the same problem.

Hi Aurther.

I understand what you are saying. But it's not those layers that are the problem.I can always unlock those layers and extend them.

It's the background page itself that does not extend properly.

Since you can see the template, you notice that background color is going from dark to light as you go down the page.

After I extend the page, instead of one continuous page with the color slowing fading as you scroll down what I get is the original page with the top portion attach to the bottom.

So what I see is a background page that slowly fades, then a black border, then the extended portion with the color matching the top of the page.

I hope this makes sense to you.

Instead of looking like one page, the background looks like there are two pages attach. You can see the black border between them.

I wish I can send you the image so you know what I'm talking about.

I tried extending the page with other templates, and they seem to be working fine except for this one. unfortunately, this is the template that we want to use.

thanks,

I assure you, you must resize ALL of the items of the page.

I will make a video of myself doing this and upload it. Please check back soon for the link to the video.

I think I noticed what you are referring to. I was overlapping those items when I was redoing my template.

That background is not using just a gradient, but rather, a texture image. When you resize the page, since the image is set to a specific resolution, it is tiling the image to fill up the excess page. If it was a solid color, this wouldn't be a problem, but because it's an image with a gradient effect, it doesn't look good.

There are two ways we could go amongst this.

1) Open the image (C:\Program Files\Avanquest\Web Easy Professional 8\Textures\Horizontal\dr_q_bg.gif is the default location) in a photo editing program and attempt to modify the item itself. This could be fairly difficult if you are not advanced with photo editing.

2) Select the background option in webeasy, and instead of using a texture, select the option to use a gradient. You would then select that greenish color (or whatever your color you wish) as the start color, and then the lighter color as the end color. It will then apply that gradient fade effect to the entire background, no matter what resolution you make the page.

Thanks Arthur. I'll give that a try.
