Is google helping make the web 2X faster

I happened across this blog post from the google code projecthttp://googlecode.blogspot.com/2010/11/make-your-websites-run-faster.html

It claims to transparantly improve page rendering time drastically while at the same time not affecting the impact to web developers and designers.

anyone have ideas/opinions about this.  anyone jumping on the bandwagon right away and give it a try on their site?

As sys admins start to use this module, it will help a lot of web developers, webmasters, devsigners offer a better experience to the visitors of their website. This is the right way of offering an improvement as the burden is not on the developer.

Great find Tim!

"Do you guys have a testbed with and without mod_pagespeed accessible externally, so users can try and "feel" the effects on their environments?"

Yep, this is the question I'd ask too. No answers as yet tho'.

Interesting, perhaps we'll see more news on this in the coming months.

Thanks Tim :)
