At a Cafe? I Can Hack Your Facebook, Twitter, Etc...With a Firefox Extension

I just read this article shared by my friend David Ker

At a Cafe? I Can Hack Your Facebook, Twitter, Etc...With a Firefox Extension

Please please please everyone, be careful with open, non-secure wifi.

Is anyone aware of a wifi security guide? A guide that explains the risks for all our citizens to learn?

SoftCity will start a guide/resource directory because to me, this is a really important topic.

Experts, please start contributing!

i know a few people who used to have an SSH tunnel setup to do all their network access when away from home, especially when staying at hotels.

It's not all that complicated to setup, if you understand the technology, but still, 99%, let me change that 99.9999% of people don't know how to set this up.  LifeHacker had a really good intro tutorial to this a while back : http://lifehacker.com/237227/geek-to-live--encrypt-your-web-browsing-session-with-an-ssh-socks-proxy

it's not complicated to setup, and definitely worth it if you spend time on "questionable" networks

When accessing gmail on a public wifi spot, if you add an "s" to the protocol (Bookmark this: https://mail.google.com/mail/), your entire session will be encrypted with SSL

You guys are good - keep going with the tips!  I'll be sending some of this to my friend, Matt, who travels and works at Wi-Fi spots a LOT.

Thanks :)
