ResolvedError 1320

I've been trying to install LabelFactory 3.0, on my HP computer, and have gotten an error 1320 everytime.  It said the path was too long.  How can I correct this issue?

David,

I have seen this issue a couple of times with different programs and on different versions of Windows.  This first started to show up when Vista came out.  What version of Windows are installing the program on?  Also, is it a 32bit or 64bit installation of Windows?

David,

These instructions were used to correct the same problem on Vista computers in the past.  I believe they should work for you, as well:

1) Start the installation and wait until the error message appears.
2) After the error appears, launch Windows Explorer.
3) Go to the Organize menu and select the "Folder and Search Options".
4) On the new window that appears, click on the View tab.
5) Enable the "Show hidden files and folders". The protected operating system files need to be viewable for the remaining steps.
6) Click the OK button.
7) Double-click on the C:\ drive.
8) Double-click on the Program Data folder.
9) Click on and drag the Documents & Settings shortcut to your Desktop.
10) Continue with the installation as normal.
11) Once the installation completes, drag the Documents & Settings shortcut from your Desktop back into the Program Data folder.

Please let us know if that corrects the issue or not.  If it fails to correct the issue, please confirm for us that you are receiving the same error message and not a new one.

I did the procedures you suggested, but I could not access my Documents & Settings folder.  It is locked.  I did try dragging the locked folder and it let me, but still was not open for the LabelFactory program to run.  Any  suggestions?

David,

I am not sure I understand what you meant by it "still was not open for the Label Factory program to run".  Could you explain that to me?

I know this is an old blog but I got to the same point as David, I tried to drag the D&S shortcut to the desktop but it will not let me. I can change the folder name wihtout any issue and this will let the program finish installing but that just creates another D&S folder for Nova. So how do I drag it over to the desktop? I have tried cut/patse and dragging. I get no error but it does not move...

Robby E. says:

Julee,

I am a bit confused by your post.  The purpose of those directions were to allow you to install the program.  After you complete the installation, you were to drag the Documents & Settings folder back to its original location.  It sounds like the installation completed.  So, there is no further need to drag the Documents & Settings folder to the Desktop.  Have I misunderstood something from your post?

Hello, Please HELP!!! I've have also tried several (5) times to install Label Factory Deluxe 3.0 and every time have gotten the Error 1320. The specified path is too long. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.  The destination folder is C:\Program Files (x86)Nova Development\LabelFactoryDeluxe3\. I'm trying to install it on Windows Vista 64bit. I have an Admin account that I don't use & another standard account that I use for everything. Usually when installing something under the standard account I just enter the Admin password and what ever I'm installing works fine. There is a menu at the beginning that asks

Install this application for:

0 Anyone who uses this computer (all users)

0 Only for me (name)

I tried 1st selecting Anyone, no good. Tried selecting Only for me (entered the standard account name), no good. Tried selecting Only me (name)  using the name on the Admin account, so I figured that would fix it but still no luck!!!!

I'm going crazy....any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Jennifer,

Did you try the directions that were mentioned in one of the previous posts above?

Robert,

No, as I saw that they were given to a person using Windows 7. I just re-read the posts and saw your post of using it for Vista. Thank you I will give it a try, I was in a rush earlier.

Robby E. says:

Samm,

You may want to check to see if you have your system set to hide system files & folders. This may be why you are unable to see that folder. If the folder is not there after revealing hidden files & folders, I am not sure what can be done at that point.

Robby E. says:

Samm,

I am not sure which folders are hidden by the system. I unchecked it a long time ago and do not remember if that folder was previously hidden. If you are certain that the hidden files & folders are showing, then it appears that location is not on your system. Those directions were originally designed for Vista. I know that they have worked some times for people on Windows 7. Beyond that, I am not sure what to recommend. You may want to try to submit a ticket to Nova Development's Technical Support. Perhaps they will have further suggestions for you.
