installation issues

when installing on windows 7 i keep getting an error code titled

error 1935 an error occurred during the installation of assembly component

{98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-AO1F-C8B3B9A1E18E}

HRESULT: 0x80070308

and then the installer says "rolling back action"

then i get a "feature transfer error"

which says Error:-1603 Fatal error during installation

Consult Windows Installer help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information

which i did and installed a fix-it program which says I have no Windows problems

any ideas??

Susan,

Thank you for providing that information. The error you are getting indicates a problem installing a Microsoft component for Windows. During installation, HGTV checks to see if certain Windows components are installed. If they are not found, the program attempts to install them. That error occurs when it fails to install the Windows component. This is typically caused by a problem within Windows.

I understand that the program you used did not indicate any problems with Windows, but that is not surprising. Programs like that can only check certain things with Windows. It only checks things in a broad sense. It cannot check every single file and setting within Windows to ensure everything has the correct version, is in the correct place, has the correct settings in the files, has the correct settings in the registry, etc. It can only check certain core files and setting to ensure they appear correct.

Unfortunately, I am not really a Windows expert. I am familiar with it and can help out with some basic issues. However, something like this would be better served by someone who is very familiar with Windows support issues. I did a quick search online and found someone reporting the same error with another program on one of the Microsoft sites. You may want to take a look at the suggested steps to resolve the issue to see if any will work for you. Here is the page I found:
