Do you think the new Nintendo DS 3D will revolution the video games market?

Do you think the new Nintendo DS 3D without glasses will revolution the games market? After the Nintendo DSi XL to read for instance digital books, Nintendo will launch the 3D without special glasses. Is it a revolution or not at all? Let's see...

The current DS has had an incredibly good run, but seven years after its launch its time for a radical improvement. We’ll see if the lens technology based 3D will be a revolution, but I think that this console needs at least a multi-touch screen to became the next reference.

Sometimes I feel that whatever Nintendo launches sells very good. I personally think playing 3D on Nintendo has its limits. But as kids don't (have limits :), I feel that'll be successful.

Something tells me that this product is going to be on my kids' Christmas lists in the future!  My sons currently play the DS Lite - and they love playing flat applications that look like they stepped out Super Nintendo from the early 90's - go figure!

I think it will depend on whether game developers develop games using the technology (think Avatar or Alice in Wonderland - movies developed using 3D tech) as opposed to merely re-releasing existing games in 3D.  If they do the latter, the response will be lukeworm at best.  My daughter is crazy about her DS and anything that enhances her experience, I'm sure will be a hit!

Tracy Norton says:

We as a family are never off the DS, both playing together and seperately.  Certainly it would be a bonus for a 3D screen, without the need for the glasses.   I understand motion sensors and vibration might be added and that all the previous ds games will be compatible.  However i doubt very much that means shown in 3D.  Certainly its an improvement, but i think they could also change the actual size and shape, making it more comfortable in the hand.  All in all its one of the better hand held consoles in our opinion and at a price thats affordable.  We can't wait to get ours!

Mike Pothier says:

Perhaps, though unless 3D can add something significant to the gameplay, I have my doubts.  I refuse to jump onto the 3D bandwagon for movies, and I'm even less hesitant for games.
