ResolvedPrinting labels

Purchased the Hallmark Card Studio 2012 Deluxe and cannot print out labels.  I want to print out 30 labels and it is only recognizing the last label, no matter if I choose 5,10 or 30 labels it only prints the last one.  I purchased this software, figuring no issues, but apparently not!

I have installed and reinstalled this program twice and the problem has not been corrected. . . any other suggestions??

thanks

Kate,

I have not seen this issue before. How are you creating the labels that you are trying to print?  Also, what is the full version number that is showing in the Help - About in the main Hallmark program?

Robby, thank for trying to help.  The procedure is  - Other projects, labels, avery 5160, putting info on label, hit print, entering the amount of labels I want, if I want a full page, hit full page, and print.  It will only print the last label.  Also, not quite sure of version - I have the Hallmark Card Studio 2012 Deluxe.  I just tried to print gift tags a few minutes ago and the same happened - last tag printed.

Kate,

Thank you for those steps. I just tried it and was unable to duplicate your issue. What I would like to do is find out what the full version number is for your installation. Up at the top of the program screen, you should see the various menu options like File, Edit, Tools, etc. The last menu option is the Help menu. Please go to the Help menu and select the last option on that menu, which should be the "About Hallmark Card Studio 2012" option. When you select that, it should open a separate window. On this window it will display the full version number. Please let me know the full version number it is showing there. Also, is this the download version of the program or was it installed from a disc?

Kate,

That is the serial number for the program and not the version number.  Please edit your last post and remove that number, as this is a public forum and anyone can see/use your serial number.

The version number is a set of numbers found on that same window near the bottom. It should be in the following format: 13.x.x.x

I need that full version number to ensure I am running the same version you are running.

Kate,

Thank you for providing that to me. I just updated my Hallmark Card Studio 2012 to the same version number and tested printing a label project. I am not seeing the results that you are getting.

The 13.0.3.1 should be the latest version of the program. Do you remember running any updates for Hallmark Card Studio 2012?

When you are on the print screen for the labels, does the display update to show the correct number of labels? Or does it only show the one label that matches your actual print out?

Also, do you happen to have another printer connected to this computer? If so, can you check to see if you are getting the same results when trying to print to that other printer?

Robby,

No updates were done. . .

The display is showing 30 labels. . .

No I do not have another printer connected. . .

I just tried to print labels, showing 3 labels and just printed the 3rd label.  I checked for updates and I am updated. . .

So I guess its the printer.

Robby E. says:

Kate,

I am not sure what is causing this. You may need to check the printer's settings to see if there is anything in there that may be limiting multiple prints somehow. Alternatively, you can try to update your printer drivers to see if that will correct the issue.

Failing that, what you can try to do is install a virtual PDF printer. This is basically a utility that places a faux printer in your list of printers. When you try to print using that printer, instead of actually printing, it prompts you to save a PDF file of the project you are trying to print. You should then be able to print using that PDF file.

I do not have any specific virtual PDF printer utility to recommend to you. I would just recommend going to a site that has a number of utilities available for download and search for "PDF printer". You should find a few options that are available and that are free to use.

Kate,

I cannot explain that. As I mentioned, I am not seeing this problem. Also, this is the only time I have heard of someone reporting such a problem with the program. So, it seems like the issue is limited to something on your end. Either the issue is somehow related to the printers, to something wrong with the program's installation or something in Windows itself. Was the printer you installed from the same model line to the one you were using previously?

Kate,

Was it perhaps from the same printer manufacturer? Also, did you check the printer settings to see if there was anything in there that would somehow limit multiple prints? Did you also get a chance to update the printer drivers to see if that made any difference?

For further clarification, I have been working with Hallmark Card Studio since the 2005 version. I have never heard anyone reporting such a problem with the program before. I have also never heard of anyone having anything remotely similar to this problem before. If this was some sort of bug in the program, we would have had at least a couple of people mention it before. I know the label portion of the program is not as heavily used as the card portion of the program. However, given the time of the year, we would have seen some people report similar problems by now.

Since we have not heard of anyone else experiencing this problem, this seems to indicate that the problem is something specific to your system. Now, as to what the problem is precisely, I cannot say. Without some similar problem in the past, we have to start from scratch.

If you would like to continue to try to resolve this issue, I would be happy to work with you further on this issue. What I would need for you to do first is check the printer settings looking to see if there is anything that may limit printing multiple prints. I would also need you to make sure you have updated the drivers with the latest drivers from the printer manufacturer(s) websites. Lastly, it would help to know what the makes/models are for each printer and how they are connected to your computer.

I am having the same problem as Kate Reid. I have successfully printed labels on my printer with Hallmark Card Studio 2010. I downloaded Hallmark Card Studio 2012 Deluxe...it has had many issues that have been solved with updates.

Today I tried to print labels and settings Avery 5267, Fill to end of page, preveiw shows full sheet all 80 address labels. It prints the last one only. It is not my printer...something is wrong with the software. Please fix it.

Robby E. says:

Rae,

If the issue was simply a problem with the program, then everyone would be experiencing this problem. Also, the developers would be able to duplicate the issue in their testing. Thus far, you are the third person that has reported this problem. I do not experience this problem when printing labels from a couple of different computers that I tested. The developers do not experience this problem when printing labels on several different computers and printers. There have also been other users of the program where it is printing labels correctly for them, too. So, we know the issue is not strictly with the program itself.

Now, this is not to say that this issue may not be corrected via an update to the program. The problem is that the developers need to identify why it is happening for 3 people and not for everyone else. Without identifying the cause, they have little hope in finding a solution to the issue.

At this point, it would help to be able to compare information between the people that are experiencing this problem. This may help the developers identify the cause of the problem.

Which version of Windows are you running this on and is that a 32bit or 64bit installation of Windows? Please, go to the Help - About screen in Hallmark Card Studio 2012. What is the full version number showing in the About window? Also, what is the make & model of the printer you are using to print the labels?

Sorry I sounded a bit annoyed but I felt bad for Kate and she probably has given up by now. After posting, I went and printed labels, with no problems, with my other greeting card software (Nova Greeting Card Factory). Also I doubt if there are only 3 people with this problem. I only tried it today.

But I will answer your questions because I would like the Hallmark software to work correctly.

I am running Windows 7 Professional, 32bit.

Hallmark full version # 13.0.3.1.

My printer is a Canon MP970.

Rae,

I apologize. For some reason, I never received notification from your last post.

Unfortunately, there has been no update to this issue at this point. There has been one other person since that has reported this problem using a different make/model of printer. The developers have still been unable to duplicate this issue. They are investigating to see if they can determine what may be causing this problem even though they cannot duplicate it.

Brad,

Your issue sounds slightly different. Everyone else is reporting that the last label is the one that is printing. It sounds like your issue is only the first label is printing. Is that correct?

Rae,

As an additional test, please try the following:

1) Launch Hallmark Card Studio 2012
2) Go to Other Projects - Labels - Avery 5160-Address
3) Select and open the first label project
4) Without making any changes to the label's design, click on the Print button
5) Select the "Fill to end of page" option
6) Click the Print Now button

When you print the project this way, does the entire sheet of labels print? Or are you still only seeing it print the last label on the sheet?

Robby, that is correct.  First label only.  I posted this in another thread that I believe was about the first label, but never got a response.

We were able to create a full sheet of labels no problem from Microsoft Word.

Hi this is Kate. . .again. . . and still having the same ole issue with printing labels.  I did the additional test you asked Rae to do (posted on 920am 1/19/12) and still just printed the last label.

Like I told you before I purchased a brand new HP Laser Jet CP1525NW printer thinking that might help. .  .but didnt.

Kinda glad others have issues as well. . .thinking it was just me

I also print labels off Microsoft Works and have no problem, but not as nice as the labels with Hallmark. . .hopefully you will find a solution !

Robby E. says:

Brad,

Thank you for confirming that for me. I am not surprised that you would get a different result in another program. There are a variety of different ways that information is sent to the printer. Unfortunately, there is not one uniform way of doing things like this.

I did see your other post and did pass on your information to the developers. I also noted with them that your issue is only the first label is printing. It may be that your issue is different than the others. However, it is so similar that I am hoping that if/when the developers determine the problem and a solution, it will apply to your situation.

Robby E. says:

Kate,

Thank you for performing that test that I asked of Rae. Also, thank you for providing me your printer information. I remember that you originally had another printer. Could you provide me the make & model of that first printer? Also, did you have a previous version of the program that printed labels with no problems? If so, which version are you certain that you have used that printed the labels with no problems?

At this point, there are four people experiencing this problem assuming that Brad's issue is related. The last time I spoke with the developers they said that they are still unable to duplicate the issue. This makes it difficult for them to determine the cause of the problem. However, they are still investigating it to see if they can find what is causing the problem and look for a fix for the issue.

As I mentioned to Brad, I am not surprised that you are getting a different result from another program. Each program has its own methods on what information is sent and how that information is sent to the printer. So, in theory, you may end up with different results from each program you try to print from.

Robby E. says:

Hello,

The developers reported that they were finally able to reproduce the problem. They believe they have a fix for this issue. However, the change that is made to correct this affects all printing in the program. They are concerned that it may adversely affect printing in other parts of the program. So, the update will need to go through a lot of testing before it will be released.

In the meantime, they suggested something that should resolve the issue without the update. It seems this problem has something to do with the High Quality Printing feature being enabled in the program. Once that is turned off, it should print the full sheet of labels with no problems. So, to work around this issue, please go to the Tools menu in Hallmark and selected the checked High Quality Printing option. This will uncheck that option. After unchecking it, you should be able to print the full sheet of labels.

I am a little behind, but today I did the additional test and it still only printed the last label on the sheet. (January 19, 2012 post)

I unchecked the High Quality printing feature and I was able to print the full sheet of labels. Yeah!

Next I checked High Quality print in Canon Printer software leaving Hallmark High Quality print feature unchecked. It printed a full sheet of labels.
