Hallmark Studio has stopped working

I bought Hallmark Card Studio De Luxe 2010  about 18 months ago and installed it on my desktop running Windows 7 64 bit. This worked ok. I have now bought a laptop running Windows 7 64 bit and I installed the software but having loaded the first screen any selection gives a screen saying "Hallmark Card Stdio has stopped working and then a screen with the only option being to close the program.

I have read a number of blogs on your website suggesting ways of resolving this but none of the solutions have worked.

I looked in Windows Event Viewer and found the following message:

Faulting application name: Hallmark Card Studio 2010.exe, version: 11.0.0.40, time stamp: 0x4b576f59Faulting module name: aticfx32.dll, version: 8.17.10.1047, time stamp: 0x4cabd6fcException code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x00025861Faulting process id: 0x1b14Faulting application start time: 0x01ccf0ebd8079fc2Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avanquest\Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe\Hallmark Card Studio 2010.exeFaulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\aticfx32.dllReport Id: 2826065f-5cdf-11e1-bbd8-dc0ea1378a05

Can you please let me know how I can resolve this problem.

Lynn,

The first thing that I should point out is that Hallmark Card Studio 2010 was not designed to run on Windows 7 64bit systems. The first version that was specifically designed to run with Windows 7 64bit systems was Hallmark Card Studio 2011. So, you may run into compatibility issues running that version of Hallmark on a Windows 7 64bit system.

With that being said, your error message indicates that the "Faulting module name" is "aticfx32.dll". This is not a file found in the Hallmark program. My guess would be that it has something to do with an ATI video card driver. So, the best suggestion that I can make is that you try to update your video card drivers. My recommendation would be that you do this directly from the video card manufacturer's website and not via the Windows update driver utility. Often times, the manufacturer's website will have newer drivers than the ones that are available through the Windows driver update utility.
