Hallmark Card Studio 2011 Deluxe - Event Planner

Card Studio 2011 Deluxe - version 12.0.1.7

My 2011 program never gives me a "balloon reminder" or any kind of reminder for dates I have in my calendar; ie;  birthday, anniversary, notes and/or other special dates.  All are checked to remind for "x" number of days prior.

Also, there is no automatic Event Planner reminder (.ink) for the 2011 program in my start-up menu as there has been for previous versions.  I have turned off all reminders from previous years versions.

I am using a Dell Inspiron 530, with Windows XP.

Is there a patch for this problem?  Do I need to re-install the software?  I've tried installing the patch recommended for the 2011 deluxe software, but after downloading I get the message that this update cannot be installed with this this version and will now close.

Carole,

Please launch the Event Planner by going to Start - Programs - Hallmark - Event Planner 2011.  Once it is launched, click on the Options button.  Under the "Check for Reminders" section, is it set to either "At Startup" or "At Startup and Time"?  If not, please select one of these options and click the OK button.  Then, close the Event Planner and restart your computer.  After it restarts, please check the Startup menu to verify that the Event Planner Reminder is now showing up in there.

"check for reminders" is checked "at startup", always has been.  Just to be sure, I changed it to give me the reminders at a certain time.  Still nothing.

Carole,

I just wanted to confirm with you, did you launch the Event Planner by going to Start - Programs - Hallmark - Event Planner 2011?  Or did you launch it any other way?  If you launched it any other way, please try launching it by going to Start - Programs - Hallmark - Event Planner 2011.  Then, double-check the settings for the "Check for Reminders".

I am assuming that you did launch it by going to the Start menu and that those options were already enabled.  If that is the case, then you should already have the Event Planner Reminder shortcut showing in your Startup menu.  If it is not showing up there, this may indicate a problem with the program's installation.  As a test, please try the following:

1) Close all program
2) Click on the Start button
3) Type "msconfig" without the quotes in the Search box
4) Double-click the MSCONFIG item that appears on the search list
5) Click on the Startup tab at the top of the window
6) Look to see if there is an Event Planner Reminder in the list

If you cannot locate an Event Planner Reminder in this list, there may be a problem.  Of course, if you have more than one version of Hallmark installed currently, you may have more than one Event Planner Reminder showing in the list.  So, that may make it difficult to determine which one is for Hallmark Card Studio 2011.  If you have one or more Event Planner Reminders in this list, please make sure they all have a checkmark next to their name.  If you have to place a checkmark next to any of them, click the OK button.  You will be prompted to restart your computer.  After it restarts, check to see if the Remind balloon appears.

If you do not have to place a checkmark next to any of them, please just click the Cancel button to close the window.

I did as suggested, looked through MSCONFIG Start-Up items and there were not any EVENT PLANNER REMINDERS listed.

NOTE:  I use Ace Utilies to manage my auto-start programs.  This is where I unchecked previous versions of Event Planner (this is why they do not show up in MSCONFIG).  This is also where I noticed that an Event Planner for 2011 software does NOT show up.

Carole,

I am a bit concerned that the Event Planner Reminders for Hallmark Card Studio 2011 is not showing up on your computer.  When you enable the "Check for Reminders", it is supposed to add the reminder utility to your start menu.  Since it is not doing this, it may indicate that there is a bigger problem on the system.

Regardless, you should be able to manually copy the reminder application to the Startup menu.  You will first need to browse to the Planner folder in the program's installation folder.  Since you are on XP, it should be located here:

C:\Program Files\Creative Home\Hallmark Card Studio 2011 Deluxe\Planner

Inside of this folder, you should see a "PLNRnote.exe" file.  You may not see the ".exe" on your computer, depending on how it is set up.  Right-click on this file and choose Send To - Desktop (create shortcut) from the pop-up menu.  You should now have a shortcut on your Desktop for the reminder application.  You would then drag it to your Start button and then to Programs - Startup.  Once it is dropped into the Startup menu, go ahead and restart your computer to confirm that it is running after the computer restarts.
