Greeting Card Factory 9.  I could send the electronic card if I saved it on Desktop and then attached to another e/mail.

Beverly,

There are a couple of points where sending an electronic greeting can fail. Most of those points are outside of Greeting Card Factory's control. What I would suggest you check first is to create a new electronic greeting and use the option to send it. This is not the same Send option that is found on the email window, though. When you do so, do you get a new blank email message window with a file already attached to it?

I do not understand what option you are suggesting.  Where do I find the option to e/m the electronic card?

Beverly,

The option that I am talking about is the Export - Send as Electronic Greeting from the Greeting Card Factory menu button. When you click on that, does a new blank email window appear with an attached image file of the exported project?

Yes an e/m appears with the electronic card attached.  I added my e/m address and also sent one to my sister and the electronic card is not received.

Beverly,

If the blank email message appears with the card attached, that is all that the Greeting Card Factory program does. At that point, any problem with actually sending the email message and attachment will either be a problem with the email program or the email service.

Have you ever successfully sent an email message using that email program before? If you have never done so before, then it may be that the email program is incorrectly configured for your email service. If you have used that email program before to successfully send email messages, then it may be that your email service is blocking the email attachment for some reason.

Thanks for your input.  As long as I save to the desktop and attach to an e/m, the card can be sent.  So I will use that method.

Thanks again

Beverly,

Are you using the same email client when you do it the way you described? If that is the case, it should work whether attaching it through the program or saving to the desktop and manually attaching to the program. The only reason why I can think of there being a difference is that you have one email client being used with the automatic attachment and you are using a different email client when manually attaching the card.

Beverly,

As far as I know of, Hotmail is a web-based email service only. Hallmark Card Studio does not interact with web-based email services. It can only interact with email client software, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, etc. Unless you somehow have one of these email client programs configured to work with your Hotmail, this would probably explain the problem you are experiencing.

What I suspect is occurring is that Hallmark is calling for one email program, which is not configured to work with your Hotmail. So, when you are sending it from that program, it is not actually sending anything because it is incorrectly configured to send emails. My guess is that if you fully open that email program, you will find a number of messages "stuck" in the Outbox waiting to be sent. If you can get that email program configured to work with your Hotmail, you should be able to use that to send your messages without having to go through the extra steps of saving the file and manually attaching it.

Thanks for all of your help.  I do have another question:  The program PhotoImpact software - Does the ability of this program enhance digital phots better than the ability of Memories on TV?

Beverly,

I am not sure I understand your question. PhotoImpact is an image editing program. MemoriesOnTV creates slide shows using image files. MemoriesOnTV does not edit images. What sort of enhancing are you needing done?

Before I add pictures to Memories on TV, I like to get rid of red eye, enhance the color if necessary, crop, etc to make the pictures the best they can be.  I have a zoombrowser program that came with my Cannon Camera for enhancing photos and now that I think about it, Memories only has cropping.  Since I have only used Zoombrowser, I have no way to base if Photo Impact would be a better program for enhancing photos.

Beverly,

For the work you are wanting to do, that would require a program that has the ability to edit pictures. PhotoImpact does have the ability to do everything that you mentioned. However, PhotoImpact is a somewhat complex program. If you are not already very familiar with image editing programs, you may find it difficult to use.

I would imagine you want something where you point, click and be done with it. PhotoImpact would require a lot of playing with settings to do something that a simpler image editing program would do for you automatically. Of course, with a simpler program, you have less control over those features. So, it comes down to a trade-off. You can have a lot of control with a complex program or less control with a simpler program.

If it is important for you to have that fine detail control, then I would recommend PhotoImpact. If you do not need such control, I would recommend something simpler. In that case, you may want to look at Photo Explosion. It is a little easier to use than PhotoImpact. However, that may still be more than what you need.
