upgrading invoices&estimates 2.0

I have a new computer with win 7 pro. I currently use invoices and estimates pro on my old computer with win XP home.  What , if any challenges am I going to run into putting this new program( invoices /estimate 2.0) on my new computer, and will I be able to transfer my database from my old invoicing program to my new program if i decide to go with it. Currently I am experiencing challenges in the program on my old computer( it locks up if you dont clear the box on aline and you type a letter in it. It just repeats the letter then locks up the page)  I don't want to have problems as this is a new business . Thanks Hal.

Hal,

I am not sure I understand your questions. Are you using InstaForm Invoices & Estimates 2.0 on your original computer and trying to move it to a new computer? Or do you have one of the older Invoices & Estimates programs like v6 or v7 and you are going to move to the InstaForm v2 on the new computer?

I am using the old invoices program I purchased in 2001. I am starting a new buisiness and I am thinking of getting the new instaform invioce program 2.0.

My new computer has win 7 pro. I want to know if this program will work on win 7 pro. Are there any unusual concerns with the program and win 7?

Yes I also would like to know if it is possible to move, or integrate the old program files to the new program without haveing operational problems between the two.

When I upgraded from win 98 to win XP, I ran into the freezing up problem I mentioned above. It is very frustrating, and I don't want to have that same concern if I choose to use the new program.

Hal,

I am still unclear as to whether you are asking about compatibility issues on Windows 7 with either the old version or the new version. If you are asking about the old version, I have no answer for you. I have never tried to run the program on Windows 7. So, I am not sure if it will run at all.

If you are asking about the InstaForm version, it is Windows 7 32bit compatible. It will also run on Windows 7 64bit systems, but I know of at least one feature that does not work on 64bit installations of Windows. That is the feature that converts an invoice, estimate, etc. to a PDF file. There may be other issues with it on a 64bit installation of Windows, but the PDF feature is the only one I know of for certain.

Regarding bring over information from your old version of the program to the InstaForm version, that is not possible. InstaForm was never designed to import information from those prior versions of the program.

Robby.

You have answered my question as to the use on win 7. I am useing the 32 bit ver. Also the question about tranfering data. Thank You.

I did not want to try and load my old program on the new computer with windows 7.  Since I had troubles with it running on XP I did not want to try it on my new system.

So If I buy the new version ( InstaForm invoice and esimates 2.0) It should work fine on my Window seven 32 bit system with no majior challenges, and I would just have to input my customer  information and buisiness information and basicly start over with this new business.

One more question Robby if you dont mind. Do you know if this program will work with Quick books pro 2011?

Hal,

I would also caution you that InstaForm Invoices & Estimates 2.0 is a different program from the original versions of Invoices & Estimates. It has been a really long time since I last ran the previous version of Invoices & Estimates. So, I cannot tell you what all the differences were between the two programs. I do remember that there were a number of things you could do in the older versions that were not part of the InstaForm version and vice-versa. So, I would recommend that you double-check to make sure InstaForm is going to do everything you need it to do. I would hate for you to get it to find out that something you find critical in the older version program is no longer in the new version.

As for Quickbooks, the answer is "no". InstaForm Invoices & Estimates 2.0 is a self-contained program. It is not designed to interact with other programs like Quickbooks.
