Printing from Quickbooks

I just purchased Checksoft Premier 2009 and it will not let me print from Quickbooks 2007. It gives me the error message:

You either are using an unsupported check style, have selected unsupported check-printing settings, or have entered a zero amount for a check. Please choose a supported check style, use supported check-printing settings, and print checks with non-zero amounts.

I have checked everything and it is set up just like i had with the old software version and i am using the same template as before. Still not working.

Any help

"Unsupported check style, unsupported printing settings, zero amount."

When attempting to print checks from an accounting program, you receive the message You either are using either an unsupported check style, have selected unsupported check printing settings, or have entered a zero amount. Please choose a supported a check style, use supported check printing settings, and print checks with non zero amounts.

Possible Cause/Solution #1: Our software only works with the default zero values in the accounting program for vertical and horizontal alignment. Set the vertical and horizontal alignment values to 0 in your accounting program.

To do this:

QuickBooks users: File | Printer Setup | Check/Paycheck (from the Form Name drop-down) | Align.
Quicken users: File | Printer Setup | For Printing Checks | Align
Money users: File | Print Checks | Options

NOTE: If you need to align your check, use Check Designer's printer alignment tool. To access this, open Check Designer and go to File | Printer Alignment.

Possible Cause/Solution #2: Our software only works with portrait check orientation. Set the orientation to portrait in your accounting program.

To do this:

QuickBooks users: File | Printer Setup | Check/Paycheck (from the Form Name drop-down) | Options (Layout Tab)
Quicken users: File | Printer Setup | For Printing Checks | Settings
Money users: File | Print Checks | Options

Possible Cause/Solution #3: Our software only works with image files (company logo, bank logo, signature files) inserted on the check design made with Check Designer. Remove any image file or logo you may have inserted via your accounting program.

To do this:

QuickBooks users: File | Printer Setup | Check/Paycheck (from the Form Name drop-down) | Uncheck the Use Logo box.
Quicken users: File | Print Check | Uncheck the Print your logo box.
Money users: Not applicable in most versions. If available, look in File | Print Checks | Options

Possible Cause/Solution #4: If your version of your accounting program has an option for partial page check printing, make sure this is also set to Portrait.

Possible Cause/Solution #5: Money users only: We only support the check styles referred to as Laser Standard, Laser Voucher, and Laser Standard in Money. That is to say, do not choose "Standard," "Voucher," or "Wallet" alone. Choose "Laser Standard," "Laser Voucher," and "Laser Wallet."

I have the same problem and Jason's solution does not fix it.  I have contacted support a few times about this issue and they say that they are waiting for a patch to fix this.  Checks don't print from any accounting software according to support, checks only print if you use checksoft as your accounting software.

Jason - when will this patch be out?  This is ridiculous for a company to sell a product that doesn't work.  Thanks.

Jason Aguiar says:

This solution should work 100% of the time if you are using Checksoft 2009 and older as they stated in the original question. If you have Checksoft 2010 then no this patch will not work. We do not have an ETA on when there will be a patch released for Checksoft 2010.

Thanks for the response Jason.  Unfortunately I have Checksoft 2010 and QuickBooks 2010 and Checksoft 2010 doesn't work and there never seems to be an ETA on the patch.  I've been waiting since around March/April for the fix.  Will the patch be posted on this forum when it becomes available?  BTW I used Checksoft Express with QuickBooks 2003 on Windows XP for 7 years and it worked great.

Should I assume that Checksoft 2009 will not work with QuickBooks 2010 or could this be an option for me?  This would be running on a windows7 machine.  Thanks.

The patch will probably be an automatic update from within the program but I will also try to post the patch here as well.

You are correct. Check Soft 2009 will not work with Quickbooks 2010 or Windows 7.

Jason,

I just purchased Checksoft Personal Delux to install on a Win 7 64 bit to use with Quicken 2008.  I receive the same error (unsuported check style, unsupported check-printing settings or have entered a zero amound for a check.)  Following the fixes listed above, I discovered that I was compliant with all the stated requirements, but still reveive this error each and every time I attempt to print.  What more can I provide you that might help fix this error.
