How to get the MICR line to print in Checksoft.

I just bought Checksoft and installed it on my Computer running Windows 7 and it prints checks through the CheckDesigner but the MICR line does not print. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else come across this problem? I have linked the Checksoft personal deluxe to the checkdesigner and have printed the same checks three times without the MICR line. What gives? Any ideas?

Good morning Mike,

It actually sounds like you are trying to print a compatible check when in fact you will want to print a blank check design since you are not using a third party accounting program in conjunction with Check Soft.

So I use the Blank check design even though I have the checksoft program to write the checks? I do not want to write them in by hand. I want them printed out all typed and ready for me to sign. Should I use the blank check design for that situation?

Hello Mike,

The program prints 2 types of checks. It prints blank checks and compatible checks. If you are using the program on its own without using a program such as My Check book or Quicken/Quick books you will want to print blank checks.

When printing blank checks you will need to hand enter the payee and amount information.

If you are using another accounting program such as My Checkbook or Quicken/ Quick books you will need to print a compatible check in which case you do not hand write in anything on the check because the program is pulling all of the check info from the accounting program you are using.

Well, got home and tried that but it did not work. I have MyCheckBook that comes along with the Checksoft package. I used it with both blank checks and compatible checks and none of them printed out the MICR number. This is becoming very disappointing. Any suggestions?

Good morning Mike,

If you are using My Check Book along with Check Designer then you will need to make a compatible check.

Printing Checks Using Check Designer

1. Make sure you have the account open that has the checks you want to print. The name of the account appears near the top of the Account window and in the Cash Flow Center list on the left side of the window.

2. Open the File menu and choose Print Checks, or click the Print Checks button in the Register, to open the Select Checks to Print dialog.

3. Choose the checks that you want to print by checking the boxes next to the checks in the list. To prevent a check from printing, uncheck its box.

4. Click Print Selected Checks to open the Print Checks dialog.

5. Confirm or enter the number of the first check to be printed. The checks will be numbered consecutively starting with this number.

6. Choose the type of check that you want to print to match the type of check stock you’re printing on. The type of check you choose in the Print Checks dialog must match the type you chose when you designed the check in Check Designer.

7. Choose the Check Designer option in the Check Designer box.

8. Click OK to open the Checks Printed dialog displaying the numbers of the check that will be printed by Check Designer.
NOTE: Don’t close this dialog until your checks have been printed. The Select Check Design dialog opens.

9. Choose the Check Designer account from the Account list.

10. Choose the style of check you designed from the Style list.

11. Choose the design you want to print from the My Designs list. Only compatible check designs are listed.

12. Insert your check stock into your printer. Make sure the check stock matches the type of checks you designed and the paper is loaded properly, so that the checks will be printed right-side up and on the face of the check stock.

13. Click OK to begin printing your checks. After Check Designer prints your checks, click OK in the Checks Printed dialog to return to the MyCheckBook Register.

Good morning Mike,

At this point I am going to suggest you call into our phone support to have a phone rep walk you through the steps.
