Can't create business account

My Checksoft Home and Business did not allow me to create a business account, only a personal account. I see there is a sample business account but there is no where that allows me to create one.  Please help!

Hello Kelly,

The program creates the accounts based on the account number. If you have an actual business account number the program will recognize that and allow for business accounts to be created. You will not be able to use a personal account as a business account.

I have a business account with Wells Fargo but when I created the account in CheckSoft V12 it created a Personal Account. Our business is a DBA but I wouldn't think it is a Personal Account.

Hello Alfie,

What version of Check Soft 2012 do you have? It should say something like "Personal" or "Home and Business" or something like that.

The program automatically decides what kind of account you have by the MICR line numbers you enter. The MICR line is formatted one way for a personal account and another way for business accounts. Are you 100% sure you do not have a personal account that is just being used as a business account? 9 times out of 10 that is the cause of the issue you are experiencing.

It says Checksoft Premier 12 and it gives a Sample Personal Account and a Sample Business account so I would assume I could set up a business account. I set up the MICR line like it is on the checks we received from Wells Fargo where we have our business account. I don't see where it states "Personal" or "Home and Business". Premier 12 on your web site states it can "Print Business, Personal and Payroll Checks" so it should be good for business.

Hi Alfie,

In the MICR line you are entering from your checks, is the check number at the beginning of the MICR line or at the end?

Hi Jason

It's at the end of the line. The first number is the routing number, then our bank account number then the check number.

Alfie,

You may want to double check with your bank, but it sounds like you might have a personal bank account and are using it as a business account. The reason I say this is because generally the MICR line for a business account starts with the check number first and then goes onto the routing and account numbers where as personal accounts start with the routing number then account number and then list the check number as you have stated your MICR line is formatted.

The person who set it up probably messed up but we've been using it this way for 9 years. I'll talk with them and see what they can do. Thanks for your help.
