New windows diagnostic tool

Microsoft recently released a new tool for Windows.

Fix it center is now available as a beta version and can be use on the following Windows version:

Windows XP SP3, Windows XP Pro (64 bits) SP2, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

Once the software has been installed, it download various detection and issue resolution software which check your OS status.

User can then decide to let updates been applied automatically or choose actions to be taken.
If an issue become unsolvable the user can ask for online fix center support. This needs to have a personal account created.

Check Microsoft fix-it-center web site for more information about this new tool.

Tim Browning says:

Bye Bye Fix-It Utilities? Microsoft seem to be making a move into the Utilities Software sector - Security Essentials is VERY good and free.

Mind you, as most of the problems that Fix It Center and Security Essentials aim to sort out are due to bad MS programming to start with, I guess they owe us all some freebie fixes!

Support SoftCity says:

I'd be very cautious installing a "Fix-it" software developed by the same developer who created all the bugs in the original software. Sounds like a mission impossible to me.

I agree with Marc-Antoine, it's like getting a vaccine by the guy who created the virus (hmmm sounds like what happen with H1N1 flu...)

I can imagine that the security essentials tool is usefull as they are the most well placed to know where they have security flaws, but concerning Fix-it it mean that we may have to pay to get an OS bug fixed....

Fabio De Fresco says:

I agree with Tim Browning about security essentials, I think also that daily use of windows and wininternals utility make a system work fine.
