I’ve been using Linux on my laptop computer without any problems. But since I’m working in a Windows environment sometimes I have no other choice to use a Windows system. Instead of using another computer, I decide to use a Virtual Machine on my laptop and install Windows XP. I had many choice to do virtualization, but I choose Virtualbox. Virtualbox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product that is freely available as Open Source Software under the GPL.
Virtualbox can run under Linux, Windows, Macintosh and OpenSolaris. It supports a large number of guest operating systems.
Another cool thing about Virtualbox is the “Seamless mode” which allow you can have the windows that are displayed within a virtual machine appear side by side next to the windows of your host.
This mean that I can run for example Microsoft Outlook on my Ubuntu box.
