Ubuntu - HowTo - Firefox not playing audio through USB headset

If you’re unable to listen to video audio using your USB headset in Ubuntu. Sit back, relax and  follow these easy steps.

In fact, it is pretty easy but not obvious.

  1. Install “PulseAudio Volume Control”
    • Go to System \ Administration \ Synaptic Package Manager
    • Search for “pulseaudio”
    • Right-Click and choose “Mark for Installation”
    • Apply
  2. Open Firefox, go to your video or sound page.
  3. Enable sound in Firefox
    • Go to Applications (from Ubuntu task bar) \ Sound & Video \ PulseAudio Volume Control
    • Select Playback TAB
    • At the bottom right, select All Streams
    • You should now see “ALSA plug-in [firefox]
    • Click on the box and select your USB Headset
  4. Your done!

Now you can enjoy and watch your video without disturbing everyone around you.
