The Crunchies have become one of the most interesting and important awards of the technology industry. The Crunchies are where the silicon valley puts on its better clothes, and shows the world the most interesting projects.
There are two interesting results following these awards. First of all, you can discover some new and interesting startups, sometimes under closed Beta, other times not well known. The other thing is to find your favourite places still relevant and waiting to show off interesting new projects.
This year’s Crunchies were hosted by VentureBeat, GigaOm, and TechCrunch hosted the event at the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. With many nominees that are still interesting to explore, only 20 Crunchies were given. These will join other famous projects like Google Reader, Pandora, Groupon, Facebook, Hulu, and the iPad:

- A photo encyclopedia designed for the iPad where members can create photo-driven articles which include Wikipedia and Google Maps information
- Best Design: Path 2.0
- A really pretty application that allows to share your everyday life in closed networks or through social media.
- Best Bootstrapped Startup: Imgur
- A favourite site created by a reddit user to easily share images in a simple and anonymous way (you don't need to sign in).
- Best Cloud Service: Dropbox
- One of the most loved apps, where you can have a folder on the cloud sync with the one in your computer.
- Best International Startup: Peixe Urbano
- A brazilian local commerce site with growing audience
- Best Clean Tech Startup: EcoATM
- This startup offers machines that analyze and buy cellphones, smartphones and other devices to hel recycle them.
- Best New Device: Nest
- Wining over tablets and other portable devices, this smart thermostat is something to see.
- Best Time Sink: Words With Friends
- Is a famous multi-player word game developed by Zynga
- Biggest Social Impact: Twitter
- After their presence on the Egypt revolution, obviously Twitter had to win this award
- Angel of the Year: Reid Hoffman
