Hewlett-Packard has announced they're working on a new technology that could be lead to a small revolution for computers and personal devices.
Their project is called "memristor", i.e. a turbo-boosted resistor with memory. (Quote "A resistor constricts current flow inside a circuit and is a key part of nearly every electrical device in use today.")
Initially, the memristor was developed to expand devices' memory capacity. But the HP team has discovered that it also can be used for logic computations, i.e. memristors would be both processor and storage.
According to analysts: "That means that within six to eight years the memristor could be used to handle both memory and logic in the same chip at the same time, bringing dramatic change to the computer industry."
