XPERIA X10 creates big buzz in Japan

According to Sony Ericsson product blog, the first Sony Ericsson Android phone, XPERIA X10, has received a very warm welcome, as DoCoMo pre-sales hit 50,000 units in two days.

Check the article: http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2010/04/06/xperia-x10-creates-big-buzz-in-japan/.

The phone runs an Android 1.6 platform and it will be updated to 2.0 in a few months (it is upgradable via PC Companion, a PC Software included in the phone), on a pretty impressive hardware (Qualcom Snapdragon, high quality capacitive touch screen) which allows a really smooth control and navigation, close to the iPhone experience.

Pierre and I are using X10i since September 09, it was our first experience of Android.

In addition to running with Android, X10i also come with very powerful hardware and excellent camera, the screen is also impressive and it is in 16/9 shape.

On software side, Timescape is a innovative way to manage your phone content, it is contact centric so you can link each contact with the related FB or Twitter entry.

I also used the face recognition tool and it works pretty good: you take a picture of a friend, you associate it to a contact then each time you will shoot him again, the picture will be automatically associated to his contact entry.

So far, I wouldn't exchange it with any other device, even for money!

Many people also think that because of Android 1.6 they can't sync their exchange account (pro users), but the X10 comes with MoxierSync, an application that does sync with exchange (email, contacts, calendar, tasks).

When the Android 2.0 upgrade will be available, exchange sync will be handled by the system.

Pierre do you think we'll get payed as we obviously promote x10i? huh

Since Roadsync is available in Android market place, there is no real need to update to 2.0.

@Nacim and Pierre: Sounds like a commercial ;)

I've personally used many Android devices (most of HTC, Motorola, LG, etc... to cite only some of them) and it's indisputable that the X10 has some great advantages such bigger screen, 1Ghz processor (snapdragon) and nice interfaces for Media and contacts but for me it still lacks 2.0 version of the OS (2.0 do not bring only exchange support even if its the most visible/used feature, it also improve the camera and image rendering, it add multi-touch, bluetooth 2.1 support, multiple email account support, ) but I'm sure the well designed X10 will be a success and probably on top list of iPhone main competitors.

I try the X10 and it is a very good phone. First I love the size of the sreen which is bigger and with Android I think that this phone is a real competitor to the iPhone. But with the version 2.0 of android it will be better. The interface of this phone is great and easy to use. It is a very good phone.  I found that Sony was down compared to the concurence but with this phone they return to top level.
