Where in the World is

In elementary school, I hated geography. Having to memorize dozens of state capitals was a pain, and mnemonics never helped because I couldn’t come up with anything that made sense. For example, the capital of the Central African Republic is Bangui, or C.A.R.B. So I need to fill up on CARBs when visiting Africa, see nonsense. Thank God those days are behind me, but for those of you still in school, or if your kids are in the same bind I was in, then look no further than the World Wide Capitals app. This free iPhone/iPod Touch app displays all 195 countries, their flags, and their capitals, on individual flash cards. This is great for any geography study session, if your preparing to be a contestant on Jeopardy, or just to learn something while on your morning commute.

Each flash card is easily legible and are arranged by continent. The cards start off in alphabetical order, but can be randomized, however they remain grouped by continent, which is weird if you're trying to get to a different region. Having to flip through each card can get tedious, but luckily the cards can be arranged in a vertical scrolling card table, making it faster to get to the one you want. If you want to test out your mad geography skills, you can take a 10, 25, or 50 question quiz. It can be paused at anytime, and it keeps track of your scores to see if you’ve improved. It never hurts to know more about stuff, and there’s nothing sexier than geography.
