The Joojoo, a good alternative to the iPad ?

The joojoo from Fusion Garage is a tablet with a 12"1 screen (1366x768), an Intel Atom N270 processor, a Nvidia ION for the graphic part, 1Go Ram, the Wifi (802.11b/n/g), the 3G, the bluetooth, one usb port and a capacity of 4Go SSD.

It is compatible with AVI, MPEG-4, MOV, WMV and WMA, FLV (Flash Video), VOB, OGG, OGM, OGV, MKV (Mastroska), DiVX, XViD. You can use it 3,5h with wireless activated and 2.5h in video playing.

It runs under Linux. You can install all the applications you want, play HD video, and it is multitasking.

All of that for 499$.

It could be a good alternative to the iPad which is a restrictive tablet because of its OS.

hurm... after reading the TechCrunch article about the experience they had building the CrunchPad, I might steer clear of this just out of principle.  Fusion Garage does not seem like a nice company.

Cool toy, but who actually made it?

Looks like a fun toy - but I think I'd need a cheaper price than $499 to tempt me.
