That Burning Sensation

I’m not ashamed to say it, I like cooking! Its fun, creative, and I enjoy the challenge. Its the closest thing to science experiments I can get after what happened to the lab at school. You cause one chemical explosive that destroys, in my defense, a fairly unused wing of the university, and you’re suddenly labeled “a potential risk to others.” How was I suppose to know flammable and inflammable meant the same thing, and really, how unstable is something labeled unstable? But I digress, at least I still have cooking, no matter how much stuff I burn, and thanks to my Betty Crocker Mobile Cookbook, I can make something with anything on hand. This free iPhone/iPod Touch app is a database of literally thousands of recipes from the tried and true Betty Crocker Cookbook.

The app is separated into two tabs. You can do a general recipe search for things like fish, tacos, or fish tacos. You can also search by ingredient, according to what you have, and what you’re making. For example, I have bread, eggs, and I’m making breakfast. It shows that I have everything I need to make Fabulous French Toast Stix. Besides ingredients and directions, you also get nutritional information, estimated prep time, and you can add the recipe to your favorites or email it to yourself. If you can’t decide what to cook, hit the “Surprise me” button and a random recipe will pop up. I’m no Julia Child, but I can follow a recipe as well as the next guy, and so can you.
