Just Lose It!

No matter what time of year it is, be it Christmas, New Years, or the 4th of July, its always hard for those on a diet to stay on said diet. We live in a world of fast cars, driving to faster food, doing as little physical activity as humanly possible, always on our cell phones. That said, why not use your iPhone/iPod Touch to keep track of your increasing and decreasing waist line with the help of the Lose It! This free app helps users manage their weight by keeping track of the amount of food they eat and exercise they do.

At start up, you’re asked to create a program by inputting, among other things, your current weight and the weight you want to achieve, or your goal weight. Here’s where you pick a plan depending how much you want to lose on a weekly basis. I chose to maintain my current weight. Then the app takes all this information and gives you an adjustable daily calorie budget. As long as you don’t go over your daily budget through exercise and healthy eating, you should be able to hit your goal in no time. The app, charts your progress and any friends also using Lose It. The main problem with this system is that its time consuming. Having to input your daily weight, diet, and exercise routine is a pain to do. However, the daily or weekly motivators you can set through e-mail, Twitter, or Facebook might be encouraging enough for you to stick to it.

This is an awesome site.  I also like www.myfitnesspal.com.  It's got a great database of foods, encourages you by telling you what you'd weigh in 5 weeks by continuing on your current path.  It also auto-calcs calories burned by type based on your stats.
