Opera's Web Standards Curriculum

For the past few years I have been trying to learn HTML and CSS.  It's not that they are hard to learn but more I have difficulty learning new things.  One other problem is the fact that there are many tutorials out there and none seem to be complete.  Oh, and then there are "Groups" that deal with Web Design that will point out the errors you make thinking you had made the perfect web page.

All I wanted was a complete tutorial that would guide me to become a compitent web designer.  I have finally found such a tutorial in Opera.  The part that surprises me is the fact that the person that turned me onto this a week ago had not pointed me in that direction two years ago when I first joined the group.  Anyway, here is the story:

Things are changing on the  Web, as time goes by standards and compliances are becoming stricter.  If you are into setting a web presence, you will need to make sure you are on top with all the knowledge needed to reach as many individuals as possible.  Opera is making this possible today.

I am in the process of studying the Web Standards Curriculum that Opera has developed in association with the Yahoo! Developer Network.  Anyone can benefit from this tutorial; you do not have to be an expert on HTML and CSS.

There are more than 50 articles set up as a tutorial for learning web standards.  You have the option to follow along in the order they are presented or you can work only the ones that you find interest in, each article can be referred to as complete.

Why should you consider the Web Standards Curriculum?  I will let them tell you.

“Web standards in a Web site promote efficiency, ease of maintenance, accessibility, device compatibility, and search optimization. The Opera WSC features the most up-to-date practices in Web standards. Best of all, the course is free, requiring no expensive textbooks. “

Like I said, I am studying the Web Standards Curriculum and I am seeing results I never felt were possible.  I am not half way and I have already built several pages that have validated with no errors in “Markup” or “CSS”.  This is something that pages made with “Drag-and-Drop” simplicity will never accomplish.

If you are interested in learning HTML and CSS I strongly advise going to Opera and taking their course.  The link is:  http://www.opera.com/company/education/curriculum/

Oh By-the-way, did I mention,it is totally “FREE!”?

Old man of 57 years.  Retired on disability.  Happy and alive.  I play around on the computer hoping one day to wake up and actually know something about it.  I love my coffee and the coffee shop I frequent.  My hair is long, past my shoulders and I have a thick full beard.  I look like a street person or a contract hitman.  When I get around to uploading a picture then you can decide.  I am a writter but not yet published.  I hope to finish my first book in six months.  You can inquire as to how to buy my book, if you wish.  Oh, most people don't like non-fiction where animals take on human characteristics and speech.  That, in-a-nutshell is me!
