Gbridge Fills the Gap! gbridge.com

The other day Miguel wrote an article on TeamViewer, a software application allowing support to a remote computer.  This got me excited because I imagined controlling my desktop from my favorite spot, the coffee shop.  As it turns out, this may or may not be the case.  I then mentioned the link to a group I work with thinking some could use this to help their clients with websites.  It appears they already use Team Viewer and came up with a suggestion that would help me, gbridge.com.   gbridge.com

Gbridge allows you to manage multiple computers of your own.  You can share files and folders from your computers, allowing you to work on jobs you have started but not necessarily on all computers.  I plan to use my laptop to do work at home while I am at the coffee shop enjoying a good cup of brew.  This way I don’t have to load information onto my laptop and take up valuable space.

You can even view photos and play mp3 files you have loaded on other remote computers.  This way, you save space by having different files on different computers.  Why would you want the same information on all your computers, taking up precious space?  How neat, load a song and listen to soft music while you prepare your Tax Return.

What about your friends, would you like to work with them on a special project?  Well, it’s possible with Gbridge.  You can securely share your files and folders with friends you have chosen to work with.  Have you been out all day photographing in hopes of getting that perfect picture that you and your friend want to put in your report?  Yep, you can do that!

Now, I could sit here all day and list out all of the features but what fun you will miss exploring this great little app on your very own.  Oh, and it is free and that makes it even the nicer!  I like free things, don’t you?

JB

As a Note:  If you use Internet Explorer as your browser you may experience strange things.  Relax, just un-install and it won't cause any more problems.  The program just sometimes doesn't work properly on IE.  I experienced a problem getting on the Internet through IE.

Well, wouldn't you know it?  My first article and now I have to print a retraction.  It appears that this app does not work well on IE.  Oh, I use IE extensively.  It seems that Gbridge automatically loads and will not let IE go on-line.  A little asking around in the other group I frequent and it seems to be one of the quirks.

Sorry, if you have IE you may notice strange things happening.  All other browsers should be ok.

Quick fix, Uninstall Gbridge and reboot.  Problem fixed but no more sharing files on all your computers.  Sucks to be me!

You should try DropBox, you can have a folder with all the information you need and access from everywhere, you can syn folders on your different computers with it and acces them from your laptop.

I agree with @Miguel.  I only recently started using DropBox, but the free 2GB component is very nice.  It's more than enough for me to keep all of my docs and music/etc. handy from any location.

The trouble is if you need more, DropBox is not really going to help you unless you wish to pay for it.

So, with this dropbox I will be able to share my files while I sitback relaxing with a good cup of coffee?

Will I be able to have my desktop remotely download from the Net?

Old man of 57 years.  Retired on disability.  Happy and alive.  I play around on the computer hoping one day to wake up and actually know something about it.  I love my coffee and the coffee shop I frequent.  My hair is long, past my shoulders and I have a thick full beard.  I look like a street person or a contract hitman.  When I get around to uploading a picture then you can decide.  I am a writter but not yet published.  I hope to finish my first book in six months.  You can inquire as to how to buy my book, if you wish.  Oh, most people don't like non-fiction where animals take on human characteristics and speech.  That, in-a-nutshell is me!
