Is not usual that software companies lead social campaigns and political cause, but after the protests about censorship and against SOPA, they have stared to set presence. This week another topic was heavily backed up by Microsoft, this time the software company called for Gay Marriage in Washington State. The excuse for this is that is hard for them to get some of the best employees:
“As other states recognize marriage equality, Washington's employers are at a disadvantage if we cannot offer a similar, inclusive environment to our talented employees, our top recruits and their families.”
But Microsoft is not the only company to support a bill for same sex marriages. Five other business have join them: Vulcan, NIKE, RealNetworks, Group Health Cooperative, and Concur. In their blog Microsoft's general counsel Brad Smith elaborated on why it was supporting the bill.
